Local Knowledge

EnergyUnited demonstrates a strong understanding of local regulations, rebates, and solar incentives. Here’s how they address these crucial aspects:

  1. Net Metering and Renewable Energy Programs:
    • EnergyUnited offers net metering, allowing members to connect their solar panels or other renewable energy generators to the utility power grid.
    • Surplus power generated by members is transferred onto the grid, and they receive a credit on their bill for their surplus generation.
    • This arrangement encourages efficient use of self-generated power while maintaining grid connectivity.
  2. Rebates for Energy Efficiency:
    • EnergyUnited provides rebates to incentivize energy-saving practices.
    • For every watt saved, they offer a rebate of $0.10.
    • These seemingly small amounts can accumulate significantly over time.
    • For instance, replacing 20 high-wattage bulbs with energy-efficient ones could save members up to $488.00.
  3. Local Installers and Community Solar:
    • EnergyUnited facilitates connections with local installers for solar panel installations.
    • Their community solar program involves maintaining solar panels installed on their property, benefiting both members and the environment.

By integrating local knowledge and adhering to regulations, EnergyUnited ensures efficient and legal solar installations for its members.

Installation Details

EnergyUnited, a utility company, may employ a combination of in-house teams and outsourced contractors for installations. While I don’t have specific details about their current practices, let’s explore the potential advantages of both approaches:

  1. In-House Installation Teams:
    • Quality Control: Having in-house teams allows for direct oversight and control over installation processes. EnergyUnited can enforce consistent standards, ensuring that installations meet their specifications.
    • Accountability: In-house teams are directly accountable to the company. Any issues or deviations can be addressed promptly.
    • Expertise: In-house teams can specialize in EnergyUnited’s specific systems and procedures, leading to efficient installations.
  2. Outsourced Contractors:
    • Scalability: Outsourcing allows EnergyUnited to scale up or down based on demand. They can hire additional contractors during peak installation periods.
    • Cost Efficiency: Outsourcing can be cost-effective, especially for temporary or specialized projects. Contractors may bring their own tools and equipment.
    • Flexibility: Contractors can adapt to varying workloads and geographic locations.

Ultimately, the choice between in-house teams and outsourcing depends on factors such as cost, efficiency, and the need for specialized skills. EnergyUnited likely evaluates these factors to determine the most effective approach for their installation services.

Reviews

Positive Reviews

  1. “NC Solar Now did an excellent job of educating us about Solar. Their installation team did a tremendous job. They arrived early and completed the job before noon. We received our first bill from Duke Energy and it was approximately $15. We are very happy.”
  2. “After getting quotes from three other solar installers, I decided to have NC Solar Now install my system in Mount Airy. They proposed to use the best panels and micro-inverters. The quote and presentation by Bob Nowoc was superior to all the others. I was impressed by the simulation software that Bob Nowoc used to show how the panels would be placed on my roof, how the sun would shine on them in each season, and estimates of how much electricity could be generated. It was the best presentation for a product I had ever seen.”
  3. “We interviewed 5 companies and chose NC Solar Now! They did not try to oversell the size of the system or make us get more than we needed. Their customer service has blown us away. They were efficient with installation and have kept us in the loop throughout the process. We also got a Tesla Powerwall, and are very glad we did!”

Negative Reviews

  1. “This company will send you 1 email if you are late on a payment. My wife forgot to pay the electric bill as it was supposed to be on auto pay. Somehow that got turned off. They email us a bill. She doesn’t see the bill. 2 weeks later I get a disconnection warning in the mailbox. Walk inside and my power has been shut off. They sent me a warning late and I still was charged $40 reconnecting fee. The manager was super unhelpful and didn’t seem to understand why it’s wrong to cut someone’s power off without giving then a physical warning in the mail on time. This is a money hungry company that does not care about customer satisfaction all.”
  2. “Lately our power has been blinking multiple times and going out. Sometimes it comes back on and sometimes not. A lot of times it is in the evening when we are trying to prepare meals. Several weeks ago it was off 2 hrs which is not unusual. We hope you get the problems resolved very soon. Off again!”
  3. “So glad we are moving away from Energy United! So many outages! So many BIG surges! I am surprised our appliances have not been damaged. We are thankful we have a generator! We also notice voltage drops so that when the AC kicks in our lights dim. I am on the phone now to disconnect and have been waiting for about 15 minutes. Every other utility has been a love person answering. It took 30 minutes to set up disconnect. With the new power company we are moving to, a LIVE person answered. It took all of 7 minutes to get set up. Also their propane service is terrible as well. We were on the auto plan and ran out of propane! We ordered fireplace logs and had to have them replaced and they still really didnt work well. The service person came out multiple times. Now they have a new app that I had to sign up for. I did and now cant get anywhere. It keep sending me back to the main page. Also they were charging a fee to make an on line payment!!”
